2024 Dacia Duster SUV Revealed | Price, Specs & Release Date

Dacia has unveiled the new Duster SUV which is now in its third generation. The Duster has been the company's bread and butter for the past two decades.

Dacia has seen considerable success with the Duster SUV over the past two decades, and the latest version promises an infusion of fresh technology, improved practicality, and a range of new engines, including a hybrid option.

Throughout its testing, the Duster's design, heavily influenced by the Dacia Bigster (which was revealed not so long ago), showcases Dacia's rebranding efforts, incorporating principles like "robust and outdoor", "Essential but Cool", and "Eco-Smart".

Retaining its signature charm, the new Duster, now based on the CMF-B platform shared with models like the Renault Clio and Captur, maintains its stocky stance, albeit with slight alterations in width and height.

The redesign introduces changes to the front grille, headlight arrangement, and a sleeker rear profile. Notably, the C-shaped rear lights echo those of the Bigster concept, hinting at the larger SUV's design direction for its 2025 release.

Despite a lowered roofline aimed at enhancing efficiency, the interior space remains accommodating for both front and rear occupants. The boot capacity has also increased, now offering up to 472 litres.

Dacia's innovative 'Starkle' material, featured in the Manifesto concept, finds its place in elements like wheel arch cladding and side sills, presenting a cost-effective and environmentally conscious choice.

The shift to the CMF-B platform promises reduced road noise and vibrations, elevating the driving experience. Introducing a range of powertrains, the Duster will now include a Hybrid 140, combining a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for enhanced efficiency.

Additionally, the TCe 130, a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a mild-hybrid starter-generator, offers improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.

Enhancing its off-road capabilities, the Duster introduces new driving modes, catering to various terrains and situations. From Auto mode for adaptable power distribution to Snow and Mud/Sand modes optimised for specific conditions, these selections are easily accessible via a central console knob.

The new Duster will come in four trim levels: Essential, Expression, Journey, and Extreme, each offering a range of features catering to different preferences.

Essential includes basic features like a media screen, Bluetooth connectivity, and cruise control, while higher trims boast larger infotainment screens, advanced connectivity options, and premium additions like wireless smartphone charging and enhanced sound systems.

The Extreme trim, with its focus on the outdoors, includes practical elements like washable upholstery and rubber floor mats, along with unique styling touches.

Notably, an intriguing new feature, 'YouClip', inspired by the Manifesto concept, allows users to affix accessories inside the car, showcasing Dacia's innovative approach to interior customisation.

While pricing for the new Duster hasn't been officially announced by Dacia, it's anticipated to start below 20,000 euros over in mainland Europe, likely reflecting a modest increase from the current starting price of £17,295 when it arrives in showrooms in the latter half of 2024.

Although it more than likely sees a small price increase compared to the previous model, you will still be getting a lot of 'car' for the money, which has been Dacia's ethos for value even since their inception.
