In this guide, we look at 5 optional extras you should consider for the Audi A5 Coupe & Sportback. The A5 range is one of Audi’s most design-focused ranges with its elegant flowing lines on all models and a signature sloping roofline on both the Coupé and Sportback models.

Head Up Display

The head-up display is a new, high-end feature that Audi makes available as an option in the A5 Coupe & Sportback. It projects the most important information and indications onto the windshield. A TFT liquid crystal display backlit by a white LED generates the colour image. Two aspherical mirrors enlarge it and redirect it while compensating for the distortion caused by the shape of the windshield. To avoid ghost images, the windshield and its safety film have a special shape. The driver assimilates the images of the head-up display extremely quickly because his or her eyes, accustomed to distance vision while driving, do not have to adjust.

Massage Function For Front Seats

The massage function will continue for 10 minutes once activated, which should be enough time to get yourself relaxed. If you would like to add additional time to the massage seat function, you can do so by once again pressing the massage function button on the side of your seat. Your Audi will save your preferred massage settings, even when the vehicle is turned off.

Driver Assistance Pack

The Driver assistance pack consists of three technologies from Audi: Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Lane Assist & Parking System Plus. Adaptive Cruise Control: This radar-assisted cruise-control system detects vehicles ahead and continuously maintains an appropriate following distance by accelerating and braking at speeds between 30 km/h (18.64 mph) and 200 km/h (124.27 mph). Within certain limitations, it automatically decelerates the car. Active Lane Assist: A video camera in the interior mirror identifies the lane markings on the road surface. If the A5 approaches a lane marking without the turn signal having been activated, the system gently intervenes in the electromechanical steering to coax the driver to remain in their lane. Parking System Plus: This system employs a fisheye lens to film the area behind the car. Images are first corrected by software and then displayed on the MMI monitor; guidance lines and fields help the driver to steer.

Adaptive Comfort Suspension w/Damping Control

Sensors measure the movements of all four wheels plus lateral and longitudinal acceleration. The damper characteristic is then adjusted accordingly to the road surface conditions and driving situation. The result is enhanced driving dynamics with even more comfort. Furthermore, the driver can push a button to choose the default setting of the suspension in the Audi drive select system and thus call up the desired handling characteristics at any time.

Audi Side Assist + Pre Sense Rear

With its radar sensors in the rear bumper, the system monitors traffic in the driver’s blind spot. When a vehicle approaches from behind, the LED warning signal lights up. The area beside and behind the vehicle is monitored by radar sensors at speeds above 30 km/h. When there is a vehicle in the blind spot or a vehicle is approaching rapidly from behind, the LED signal in the respective exterior mirror is continuously illuminated as a warning to the driver. If the turn signal is operated in this situation, the lights in the exterior mirror flash to alert the driver to the danger of a collision. Audi side assist does not actively intervene in the controlling of the vehicle and the driver may deactivate it at any time by pressing a button on the driver door.
