In this guide, we look at 5 optional extras you should consider for the Audi Q8. Bold, luxurious and sporty: meet the new face of the Audi Q family. The fusion of dynamic coupé styling with the presence of a large SUV, the Audi Q8 combines the best of both.

Head Up Display

The head-up display is a new, high-end feature that Audi makes available as an option in the Q8. It projects the most important information and indications onto the windshield. A TFT liquid crystal display backlit by a white LED generates the colour image. Two aspherical mirrors enlarge it and redirect it while compensating for the distortion caused by the shape of the windshield.

Night Vision Assistant

The heart of this system is a thermal imaging camera at the front of the Q8. It has an angle of view of 24 degrees, and its protective window is cleaned by a separate nozzle and heated when cold. As a far infrared system (FIR), the camera reacts to the heat radiated by objects in the recorded scene. A computer transforms the information from the camera into black-and-white images and displays them on the central display located between the instruments.

The far infrared technology has significant strengths, particularly when compared to the competing near infrared systems. It can look up to 300 meters (984.25 ft) ahead, far beyond the range of the high beams, and is not blinded by headlights and similar light sources. Most importantly, it concentrates on what is most important: people. Regardless of whether they appear bright or dark to the human eye, they are conspicuously bright in the image due the heat they give off, whereas the cooler surroundings appear dark.

The Night Vision assistant can give a clear display & warning to avoid a potential collision in dark conditions.

All Wheel Steering

Improves the driving dynamics and the driving comfort as a result of additional steer-ability of the rear axle. At lower speeds, the rear axle self-steers oppositely to the steering angle of the front axle. This results in higher agility and a smaller steering angle, making manoeuvring easier, especially in tight bends and when parking. At higher speeds, steering in the same direction improves the responsiveness, as well as the driving dynamics, cornering and vehicle stability. All-wheel steering supports the parking and manoeuvring processes of Park assist and Trailer assist

City Assist Pack

Like your sixth sense on the road ahead, this pack brings together a suite of highly advanced systems – smart technologies that, within system limits, can detect, and even step in when necessary, to help prevent a collision.

Audi Side Assist

When activated, the system aids the driver when changing lanes. Audi Side Assist monitors the area behind the vehicle informing the driver with a visual warning signal in the door mirror, if there is a vehicle in their blind spot or approaching quickly from behind.

Audi Pre-sense Basic

Where necessary, actions are taken to help protect the driver and passengers if a potential collision is detected. Includes the following:
• Seat belt tightening for front and rear
• Closing the windows
• Closing the panoramic sunroof (if fitted)

Audi Pre-sense Rear

Monitors vehicles following from behind, and if a potential collision is detected, the driver is first warned visually via a flashing light. If a collision is unavoidable actions are taken, in line with Audi pre-sense Basic, to protect the occupants.

Cross-traffic Assist Front

Within system limits, warns the driver of traffic crossing in front or to the side of the vehicle, using vehicle sensors. The system first alerts the driver visually and then acoustically via the MMI. A brake jolt is applied if a potential collision is detected.

Cross-Traffic Assist Rear

Warns the driver of traffic crossing behind their own vehicle when starting to reverse without having a clear view of the situation (e.g. perpendicular parking space with restricted view or narrow driveway).

Exit Warning

Warns the driver of potential collisions with detected traffic approaching from the rear, when a door is opened whilst the vehicle is stationary. When the door release lever is pulled and another road user deemed critical is approaching, the warning strip in the door and the LED indicator on the exterior mirror on the affected side light up. Simultaneously, the door opening is delayed briefly.

Audi Music Interface In The Rear

2 USB ports with charge and data functions and 2 additional ports in the front. Can really come in handy in this day and age, and for the price... well worth it!
