The all-electric and new to the UK market BYD Dolphin hatchback and Seal saloon have achieved five-star ratings in Euro NCAP tests.

The all-new BYD Seal and BYD Dolphin electric vehicles have achieved prestigious five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP, the foremost independent safety evaluation program in Europe.

The D-segment sedan BYD Seal demonstrated an exceptional commitment to safety throughout the comprehensive testing process, underscoring the vehicle's robust active and passive safety attributes, along with the structural advantages of BYD's innovative CTB (Cell to Body) technology.

Meanwhile, the C-segment hatchback, the BYD Dolphin, showcased its high-quality standards by earning commendable scores for the protection of adult and child occupants.

Euro NCAP introduced the star safety rating system to simplify vehicle comparisons for consumers, families, and businesses, assisting them in making informed choices about their safety needs.

Both the BYD Seal (D-segment sedan) and the BYD Dolphin (C-segment hatchback) proudly secured 5-star accolades. Euro NCAP experts assessed both vehicles across four crucial categories: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, safety assistance systems, and safeguarding vulnerable road users.

Key to achieving top-tier test results is BYD's unwavering commitment to build quality and cutting-edge technology. BYD's next-generation e-Platform 3.0 stands as an industry-first, offering a highly integrated 8-in-1 electric powertrain that connects all electric control units and management systems.

This system, coupled with the rigorously tested Blade Battery, ensures utmost safety. The BYD e-Platform 3.0 boasts a 'multi-load path' structure, regulating energy absorption in the event of a collision to minimise intrusion into the passenger cabin.

Moreover, advanced Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology fortifies passenger protection by reinforcing the vehicle's body structure, resulting in high torsional rigidity. The BYD Seal exhibits an impressive torsional stiffness of 40,500-N.m/degree, leading to a remarkable 89% score for Adult Occupant protection during the safety tests.

The CTB technology contributes to the vehicle's ability to maintain stability during a frontal offset test, affording substantial protection to both the driver and passenger. Additionally, the BYD Seal excels in providing protection against whiplash injuries.

The advanced eCall system, coupled with post-impact braking to prevent secondary collisions, garnered special recognition.

In Child Occupant protection assessments, the BYD Seal attained an 87% score, effectively minimising impact to all vital body areas for child occupants in both frontal and side barrier tests.

Vulnerable Road Users, such as pedestrians and cyclists, benefit from an 82% protection level due to the Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEB). The system, which warns against door openings when cyclists approach from behind, received a special mention from Euro NCAP.

The BYD Dolphin also secured a perfect safety score in the Euro NCAP Safety Test, a testament to its wealth of safety features and standard advanced driver assistance systems.

For Adult Occupant protection, the BYD Dolphin earned an impressive 89%, with Euro NCAP lauding the vehicle's ability to maintain a stable passenger compartment during the frontal offset test, offering effective protection to occupants of various sizes and positions.

Child Occupant protection tests resulted in an 87% score, minimising the impact on critical body areas for both six and ten-year-old test dummies. The front seats and head restraints also exhibited commendable protection against whiplash injuries in rear-end collisions.

The BYD Dolphin's safety assist systems earned a 79% rating, with specific recognition for the performance of camera-based Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and Lane Keeping Assist systems.

The vehicle's autonomous emergency braking system (AEB) played a pivotal role in the outstanding score of 85% for safeguarding vulnerable road users, with particular emphasis on its ability to recognise pedestrians and cyclists, as acknowledged by the testers.
