KGM Motors UK, Formerly Ssangyong, To Release New Lineup In UK
KGM Motors UK, has revealed its updated range of models as part of a recent corporate rebrand, reinforcing the company's refreshed global brand identity.
This strategic transformation involves streamlining specifications for both current and future offerings, with the goal of enhancing overall product quality to deliver superior craftsmanship and innovation.
KGM Motors UK was formerly known as Ssangyong, following the Korean car maker's acquisition by KG Group last year. They had vehicles such as the Musso pick-up and Korando and Tivoli SUVs, which were fairly successful models.
As part of this revision, adjustments will be made to vehicles within the lineup to meet revised specifications.
Models will be consolidated into two variants per vehicle, adopting a unified alpha/numeric nomenclature with designations such as K20, K30, K40, and K50.
The Musso pick-up, an award-winning model, will retain its existing EX, Rebel, Saracen, and Saracen variant names.
In tandem with its brand overhaul, KGM Motors UK has affirmed a unified design approach and an extensive upcoming product lineup.
This strategic move reflects KGM Global's proactive initiative to reshape its brand image and expand its offerings in the UK market, moving away from the outdated perception focused on "value for money".
Initially unveiled in 2021, KGM Motors UK is reiterating its commitment to the design philosophy encapsulated by "Powered by Toughness," underscoring the inherent value and future trajectory of its upcoming lineup.
This deliberate strategic decision aims to reinforce the brand's identity as a purveyor of robust, contemporary vehicles deeply rooted in the company's storied heritage.
Kevin Griffin, managing director of KGM UK, commented:
"The reinterpretation of the future design vision draws heavily on our unique heritage. This marks a new era for both design and product, with all models moving forward adhering to this exciting, new approach – and we have some exciting new model launches coming."
Future products will re-embrace the original attributes of tough vehicles designed for adventure, utilizing aesthetic elements of colour, texture, and design to harmonize with the natural world and reflect customer sensibilities.
The product lineup will also pay homage to the heritage of the original Korando and Musso, considered symbols of strength in Korean automotive history.
KGM's latest designs aim to solidify its brand as an authentic provider of SUVs and pick-up trucks, meeting customer demands while staying attuned to current automotive industry trends.
This will include the incorporation of eco-friendly powertrains, responding to the growing need for sustainable mobility that is shaping the future of driving.
Through the adoption of eco-friendly powertrains, KGM positions itself as a forward-thinking vehicle manufacturer, showcasing its dedication to meeting both customer and environmental needs.
The highly anticipated launch of the Torres ICE and Torres EVX in the UK is scheduled for Q1 of 2024.
Concurrently, the development of concept models, such as the BEV pick-up truck (0100), BEV mid-sized SUV (KR10), and BEV large SUV (F100), will continue in collaboration with BYD, utilizing BEV-dedicated platforms.
Mass production of O100 and KR10 is expected to commence in H2 of 2024, with further details to be released in due course.
