Kia has released further details of the design and interiors of the EV3 and EV4 concept cars. They're going to be extremely environmentally friendly too.

Kia's electric vehicle (EV) lineup, distinguished by the iconic EV badge, is set to welcome a new addition in the form of the Kia EV3 and EV4. Thanks to the introduction of these new concept cars by Kia, we can now get our most detailed glimpse yet into what these new EVs have in store for us.

Kia EV3 Concept Car

Following in the footsteps of the EV9 Concept and EV5 Concept, the EV3 Concept is poised to enter production soon, with an anticipated road debut in 2024.

Much like its predecessors, the EV3 Concept draws inspiration from the angular design elements that have become a hallmark of Kia's EV offerings. The interior, on the other hand, embraces a strikingly minimalist design philosophy.

While precise technical specifications for the EV3 remain undisclosed, it is expected to leverage the Hyundai-Kia Group's E-GMP platform, already in use for the EV6. This platform affords the choice of either a 58kWh or a larger 77.4kWh battery, capable of providing a substantial range exceeding 300 miles.

Furthermore, potential buyers can look forward to a variety of single and dual-motor four-wheel drive powertrain options.

In terms of aesthetics, the EV3 Concept stays true to Kia's current design language. It falls into the C-segment SUV category, with dimensions akin to the Kia Sportage, but featuring a more compact and assertive stance, accentuated by robust wheel arches.

At the front, the LED headlights share similarities with those found on the EV5, minus the strip along the bonnet's leading edge, and the absence of a conventional grille.

The absence of painted pillars gives the impression of a floating roof, with the roofline gently sloping towards the rear, contributing to a sportier profile. The rear light strips extend to the sides, further emphasising the car's width.

Inside, the EV3 Concept takes inspiration from the EV9 Concept, incorporating an oval-shaped steering wheel, a floating centre console, ambient lighting, and a prominent dual-screen setup mounted on the dashboard.

The layout remains sleek and minimal, maximising the sense of space. Practicality is enhanced by a rear bench-style seat that can be folded upward to accommodate items like electric scooters and bicycles, as per Kia's claims.

Kia is set to introduce AI technology in the EV3 to enhance day-to-day operations. This technology, debuting in the EV3 model, will assist with schedule management, route optimisation, travel planning, entertainment, and emergency support.

Kia EV4 Concept Car

Kia has also unveiled its plans for an all-electric saloon, the EV4 Concept, marking a new direction for the company.

The production-ready version of the EV4 is expected to hit the roads by 2025. When it arrives in showrooms, it will face stiff competition, including the updated Tesla Model 3, the Polestar 2, the BMW i4, and the Ioniq 6 from Kia's sister company, Hyundai.

While the EV4 Concept represents the initial vision, the production model is likely to retain many of its eye-catching design features, following the pattern set by the EV9 and EV5 concepts.

According to Kia, the EV4 introduces a completely new style of EV saloon, combining elements of a four-door saloon with the sleek appeal of a coupe SUV. Its design showcases a short front overhang and a significantly larger one at the rear, complemented by a "floating roof" achieved through black pillars, a consistent feature across Kia's EV range.

Thin LED lights adorn the outer edges of the front, creating a sense of width, especially when combined with the distinctive wheel arches. Kia's reputation for striking wheel designs continues this time featuring a triangular motif.

The interior design of the EV4 closely resembles that of the EV3 Concept and EV9 Concept, emphasising minimalism to create a spacious feel. Notably, there is no central console dividing the front footwells for the occupants.

A sizable dash-mounted dual screen, enhanced with AI generative technology, will support the driver in various day-to-day tasks, such as scheduling and optimising routes to improve efficiency.

The EV4 is expected to share the same E-GMP architecture as the Kia EV6 and the similarly sized Ioniq 6. Every Ioniq 6 is equipped with a 77.4kWh battery, providing a range of up to 338 miles.

Given the newly upgraded Model 3 Long Range's impressive 391-mile range on a single charge, the EV4's powertrain may undergo further enhancements before its launch in 2025.
