Official Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer Released by Rockstar
More than a decade after its predecessor's launch, the long-awaited official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has finally arrived.
In just ninety seconds, the trailer unveils GTA VI's setting; a revamped version of Vice City, the franchise's vibrant take on Miami.
Similar to GTA V's portrayal of Los Angeles within San Andreas, VI expands with an urban area and a vast rural landscape, featuring an Everglades-esque swamp and an archipelago reaching into the Atlantic Ocean.
The focal point of the narrative seems to revolve around Lucia, the first female main protagonist in the GTA series. Lucia, an ex-convict, finds herself entangled in a life of crime upon release from prison, alongside an unnamed partner.
Unlike GTA V's multi-protagonist complexity, VI opts for a more straightforward Bonnie and Clyde-esque storyline.
The trailer's tone syncs with Tom Petty's 'Love Is A Long Road' (which is now exploding in popularity), reflecting the game's theme. However, no additional information accompanies the trailer besides licensing details for the song, as there was no official press release at the time.
The trailer's early leak prompted Rockstar Games to urge viewers to watch the official release on YouTube, shared via X (formerly Twitter) on December 4th.
It showcases GTA's trademark elements; police pursuits, eccentric characters, and sardonic humor.
The game seems to include boat and plane hijacking, alongside the classic car and motorcycle theft and driving. Although modern social media elements are hinted at, their integration remains uncertain.
Regarding vehicles, the cars appear more authentic, resembling real-life models without risking licensing issues. Scenes depict vehicles resembling a Porsche 911 Cabriolet and a white Ferrari 512TR/Testarossa-inspired supercar, fitting for the Miami-inspired setting.
A bit of bad news
However, the trailer's conclusion delivers disappointing news. GTA VI is slated for a 2025 release, pushing back earlier expectations of a 2024 launch.
After a decade-long wait since GTA V, fans anticipate a slightly longer wait. An optimistic view might hint at an early 2025 release, leaving hopes for the game to be just over a year away. We'll wait with our fingers crossed here at Stable.
