The Peugeot 508 Receives a TASTY Facelift
The new facelift on the Peugeot 508 sees it gaining a new overall design and new fuel options making this quite a MEATY vehicle
Peugeot has really focused on their attempt to stand out against their competitors with the 508, especially with the next-generation Volkswagen Passat and Alfa Romeo Giulia. To do this, Peugeot has thoroughly re-designed the exterior.
Starting with the front end takes inspiration from the 408 fastback partnering Peugeot's iconic Lion crest logo which features front and centre within the new radiator grille, which blends into the bodywork. A big difference is the LED Matrix headlights, featuring a three-fang-like design that acts as an extension to the stand-out grille.
Peugeot didn't stop there with the re-design, the standard 508 boasts all-new 18-inch alloy wheels, and matching that of the headlights, the rear taillights have been restyled with a claw-like design. There have also been little changes all over including a new Peugeot script at the rear replacing the previous Lion Peugeot badge which lifts the exterior as a whole.
Peugeot has made their trim level names list to make it a lot more customer friendly. With the 508, there are 3, starting with 'Allure' which replaces the 'Allure Premium'. Next on the list is 'GT', the only level name to feature 'GT' after the 'GT Premium' has been axed. The range-topping trim is the new 'Peugeot Sport Engineered' or just 'PSE' for short. The high-performance PSE has a 355bhp plug-in hybrid which is built around the 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine.
The general cabin architecture is unchanged from the previous 508, with a set of piano-style short-cut keys beneath the screen. The centre console has been decluttered with a smaller gear selector, and Peugeot’s i-Cockpit layout is still present. There’s a small steering wheel set below a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, which offers new configurable displays for navigation.
The 508 also offers AGR-certified front seats, which can be optioned with an electric memory function, seat heating and a pneumatic massaging system. New fabric and Alcantara upholstery options are standard as part of the updates, with Nappa leather trim available as an option. An optional 10-speaker Focal sound system is available, which has been upgraded to include a front-optimised mode for front occupants.
To improve safety, an array of driver assist systems are available with the facelifted 508 including blind spot monitoring, night vision, parking cameras and adaptive cruise control with a stop-and-go function.
