Where the VW Golf GTI TCR showed off the brand's renewed emphasis on creating customer racing team models for the sporting world (after they announced their departure from the WRX), the Polo R steps it up a notch for the rally community. Unveiled by Volkswagen Motorsport Director Sven Smeets, PSRX team principal Pernilla Solberg and Jost Capito, managing director of Volkswagen R, the new model promises to be very exciting. Smeets said, "I am confident that [...] the new partnership with Volkswagen R will give us even more power [to defend the world titles]."[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
The Polo R will be used by world champions Johan Kristofferson and Petter Solberg to defend their titles in the WRX when the season gets underway in Barcelona on 14-15 April.
