Volkswagen Unveils Exclusive Pictures Of The ID.7 Tourer EV
Volkswagen has revealed some pictures of the upcoming all-electric ID.7 Tourer Estate car that is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2024.
Volkswagen is no stranger when it comes to decent estate cars. We've had the roomy and comfortable Passat estate, the premium and luxurious Arteon Shooting Brake, as well as the sporty and fast Golf R estate, and now, VW is adding an all-electric model to the mix.
With the release of the ID.7 saloon on the horizon, it shouldn't come as a surprise that an estate model was already in the works. And being an EV (electric vehicle), there will be a host of motors to choose from no doubt. From single motors with a great range to rapid dual-motor beasts like the rest of the GTX models in the ID series.
The ID range has received plenty of awards and praise. The ID.3 hatchback for its fantastic range and competitive pricing. The ID.4 and ID.5 for their styling and ease of use. The ID.Buzz microbus and cargo van have won multiple awards due to their design and versatility. It makes sense the ID.7 Tourer and saloon models are riding off the current hype.
Like the rest of the ID. family, the ID.7 Tourer (and saloon) are based on the MEB platform. This platform has been extremely popular in the EV space thanks to its adaptability and utility.
VW hasn't released any specs at the time of writing this article but we do know a few things that VW themselves have divulged.
Optimal range efficiency achieved through advanced aerodynamics
A streamlined body serves as the ideal foundation for maximising the driving range of the ID.7 Tourer. The recently unveiled ID.7 saloon represents Volkswagen's commitment to exceptional aerodynamic performance, boasting an impressive Cd-value of just 0.23.
Remarkably, the Cd-value for the ID.7 Tourer remains on par, at a mere 0.24. Even beneath its striking Indian summer camouflage in the images they have released, the elongated hatchback version showcases a graceful and robust design that is truly one of a kind.
A wealth of roominess in the boot and a high-quality and spacious cabin interior
With a full complement of five passengers on board, you can enjoy a generous 545-litre boot volume, extending up to the height of the rear seat backrest. Should you need even more cargo space, simply fold down the rear seat, and the nearly two-meter-long cargo area expands to an impressive 1,714 litres.
So far, at the time of writing this article, Volkswagen hasn't released any information regarding motors or range. But what we do know is that the ID.7 Tourer is due to be released sometime in 2024.
