Tesla has launched the Cybertruck in the United States after a reveal in Austin included prices, specification details, as well as some deliveries for customers.

The Tesla Cybertruck has finally launched in the US after years and years of teasing and delays. Even after slightly embarrassing events like the Cybertruck demo windows getting smashed after they threw a baseball at the windows, the hype has held strong for the unique-looking vehicle.

You can watch the full 50-minute reveal over on X (formerly Twitter) or read below for more info on the Cybertruck.

What we know about the Tesla Cybertruck so far

The Tesla Cybertruck has launched with three iterations. A base rear-wheel drive model, a mid-level all-wheel drive model and top of the range model called the 'CyberBeast'.

The base model comes with a range of 250 miles and a 0 to 60 mph time of 6.5 seconds. The outside panels are made out of stainless steel Tesla refers to them as the "Ultra-hard 30X".

Here are the full specs straight from Tesla's website:

  Rear-Wheel Drive All-Wheel Drive CyberBeast
Price $60,990 $79,990 $99,990
Range 250 miles 340 miles 320 miles
Range with extender Not applicable 470+ miles 440+ miles
Acceleration (0-60 mph) 6.5 seconds 3.9 seconds 2.6 seconds
Drivetrain Rear-wheel drive All-wheel drive All-wheel drive
Top speed 112 mph 112 mph 130 mph
Towing capacity 7,500 lbs / 3,400 kg 11,000 lbs / 4,990 kg  11,000 lbs / 4,990 kg

As you can see the price is in dollars, as no UK pricing (or even a release date) has been announced yet.

The range is excellent as per usual Tesla products and the 0 to 60 mph times are fantastic, given this is a heavy truck weighing around 3 tonnes.

The 'Cyberbeast' most notably, has a 0 to 60 mph of just 2.6 seconds, and Elon Musk says will beat a Porsche 911 to the quarter-mile WHILE towing a Porsche 911 behind it.

Towing capacity is great as well, with the base rear-wheel drive model being able to tow up to 3 tonnes of weight behind it. Website Arcticdry says:

"smaller 2-4 berth caravans usually ranges from 800kg to 1300kg whereas larger caravans rated at 4-6 berth will typically weigh between 1300 and 1800kg, or beyond"

So the Cybertruck would be a good option if you are going to be towing occasionally.

Another interesting part is the "range extender", which increases the overall range of your vehicle from a full charge. In previous EVs like the BMW i3 hatchback, the range extender used a gasoline generator.

But the Cybertruck won't be doing that. Elon has said on X that the range extender is: "Optional pack that fits in about 1/3 of the truck bed. Still room for plenty of of cargo. It’s meant for very long trips or towing heavy things up mountains."

As mentioned previously, the Cybertruck has a curb weight of around 6,859 lbs or 3 tonnes. The Cybertruck's rear bed for storage measures 6 feet by 4 feet.

Elon has said the drag coefficient of the Cybertruck is 0.335 which is fantastic, given the trucks bizarre proportions and chunky size.

When it comes to ground clearance, the Cybertruck has a 17-inch clearance thanks to the gigantic 35-inch all-terrain tires. The ground clearance remains the same across the entire underneath thanks to the flat belly, which is great if you plan to go off-road.

The Cybertruck has moved away from the 12-volt system they have used in previous Teslas to the 48-volt system, which is brand new for the Cybertruck and will result in less writing loom used.

Onboard, the Cybertruck is equipped with 120 and 240-volt American power outlets. Obviously, they will be changed to UK/European specific if it gets released over here.

As for the US release, you get:

4 x 120 V Outlets

  • 2 cabin outlets up to 20 A
  • 2 cargo bed outlets up to 20 A

1 x 240 V Outlets

  • 1 cargo bed outlet up to 40 A

Another interesting feature and one we haven't heard much from EVs in general is vehicle-to-home (V2H). This is basically the ability to power your house temporarily by using your EV's battery.

The Cybertruck will have the ability to do that and Elon calls it "Powershare". Although it's not meant for long periods. Just temporarily if there was a power outage at your home and you desperately needed electricity.

You can also charge other vehicles (V2V) thanks to the 240-volt outlet located on the cargo bed.

As for the interior of the Tesla Cybertruck, it very much mimics classic Tesla with the minimal approach and giant touch screen in the centre.

There is a large ambient lighting strip running across the entire width of the dashboard and doors, which looks cool at least.

When is the Tesla Cybertruck being released in the UK?

While some customers in the US have already had their deliveries of the Tesla Cybertruck, it's unclear if the UK is getting a release. We have had no pricing and no official release date from Tesla or an acknowledgement from Elon himself.

How would it potentially cost if it was released in the UK?

Converting the prices for the above US versions, you can see below how much it would roughly cost in British pounds (at the time of writing this article):

  • Rear-wheel drive model: £42,260
  • All-wheel drive model: £63,295
  • CyberBeast model: £79,121
