What is car leasing?
Many of our customers ask us what car leasing is, as it differs from other finance packages such as PCP (Personal Contract Plan) and hire purchase (HP). Car leasing is essentially a form of renting. You rent the car for the agreed duration of your contract and then return it when the contract ends. With car leasing, you get a lot of freedom when choosing your car and the spec. Just be mindful that adding extra additions such as a sat nav, heated seats or different alloys can increase the price of your contracts monthly bill. When you are ready to order you will need to state your annual mileage as well as your contract length. The annual mileage will increase your monthly payment the more you add.
One thing that our customers sometimes get confused with is the ‘initial payment’. Think of the initial payment as a deposit, one that you pay 2 weeks after the vehicle is delivered to you. The initial payment is calculated by the current monthly price of your vehicle x number of months. For example, if your Audi A1 is £200 a month and you opt for 3 months initial payment, it will be £200 x 3 = £600 initial payment. This goes all the way up to 12 months initial payment maximum. The more months you add the less you have to pay per month. Conversely, the fewer months you add the more you have to pay per month. Our best advice is to find a balance such as 6 months initial payment.
Once you’ve been accepted for finance, simply wait for us to inform you of your delivery date. This is usually around 10-15 weeks due to your car having to be built. If we have stock vehicles on sale these can be delivered within 2 weeks. After your contract ends you simply hand the car back to us. Most of our customers will opt for another lease when their current contract ends. If you plan to do this make sure you do it at least 3 months before your current contract ends, as there will be a period where you won’t have a car due to it taking 3 months to be built and delivered.
